NSW: Man charged with murder over shooting of mother of two
A 62-year-old man has been charged with murder and will appear in court today aftera mother of two was found shot dead in a northern New South Wales home.
The woman had taken her two children, aged 18 months and three years, to visit their62-year-old father in Guyra.
Police officers were called to a property in Bradley Street in Guyra, at 6.30pm (AEDT)on Sunday after two men returned to the house and discovered the mother's body slumpedon the kitchen floor.
The 39-year-old woman from Torrington was found lying near the kitchen sink where shehad been shot with a small calibre firearm.
Inspector LAURIE LEWIS of Armidale Police says after discovering the body, police realisedthe woman's children were missing and had been taken by their father.
After a major police and publicity appeal, the toddler and his elder brother were foundsafe in Sydney, where they'd been staying with a relative.
Inspector LEWIS says the boys' father turned himself in to Maroubra police yesterday.
He'll appear in Waverley Local Court today.
