Community meal raises funds for Kenyan orphanage

WINNIPEG, MAN.- In just under two hours, Mennonite Collegiate Institute (MCI) and the supporting community raised $4,100 for Hope Community Centre, an orphanage in rural Kenya. Hosting its annual homecoming event, MCI student council executive was invited to take charge of a traditional Mennonite supper of noodles and sausage in an effort to raise money for the centre. After a few hours of cutting onions and peeling sausage, the majority of which was donated, the evening proved a great success. The money will be used to purchase food for the centre's 150 students.
