NSW: Bob Carr called to give evidence to committee

Former New South Wales Premier BOB CARR has been called to give evidence to a state
parliamentary committee examining Sydney's Cross City tunnel contract.

The committee .. chaired by upper house MP Reverend FRED NILE .. is looking at the
way the then CARR Labor government negotiated the building of the tunnel with private
operator CrossCity Motorway.

Mr NILE says it's also examining the level of community consultation.

Former NSW South Wales treasurer MICHAEL EGAN and former Roads Traffic Authority boss
PAUL FORWARD are also due to front the hearing .. which starts today.





Mr FORWARD was removed from his RTA post in October after failing to inform roads minister
JOE TRIPODI of an agreement which allowed the tunnel's toll to be increased.

The hearing ends on Thursday.
